Honouring Mandela’s Legacy Through Compassion & Action

Every year on 18 July, the world pauses to reflect aon the enduring legacy of Nelson Mandela — a symbol of peace, justice, and service to humanity. At Ashraful Aid, we honour his vision by transforming our commitment into action through the annual Mandela Day initiative.

In 2025, we proudly hosted our 5th Annual Mandela Day Volunteer Campaign in partnership with DP World Lions Cricket at the iconic Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. This year’s theme: “67 Minutes of Impact.”

Packing 5,000 Food Parcels – One Family at a Time

This year, our goal was ambitious but clear:
Pack and distribute 5,000 food parcels – enough to feed nearly 20,000 vulnerable individuals, including:
• Child-headed households
• Female-led families
• Elderly citizens
• Refugees and informal settlements

Thanks to the energy of our corporate partners, school groups, volunteers, and supporters, we met that goal — and did so with joy and purpose.

Why 67 Minutes Matters

Nelson Mandela dedicated 67 years of his life to fighting for social justice. On Mandela Day, we invite every South African — and every global citizen — to dedicate 67 minutes of their time to making a difference. At Ashraful Aid, those 67 minutes meant:
• Packing food with purpose
• Sharing smiles across communities
• Strengthening social bonds between people from all walks of life

Behind the Scenes The Power of Partnerships

Ashraful Aid could not have achieved this impact alone. We extend heartfelt thanks to:
•DP World Lions Cricket for hosting and supporting logistics
•Corporate teams who joined as part of their CSI programs
•Individual volunteers who gave their time, effort, and hearts
•Generous donors whose contributions funded each R250 parcel

These partnerships allowed us to turn a day of action into a long-term impact for the communities we serve.

Going Beyond Mandela Day

While Mandela Day lasts only 24 hours, our work continues year-round. Ashraful Aid remains deeply committed to:
• Fighting hunger and food insecurity
• Delivering dignity through essential services
• Uplifting communities across South Africa and beyond

We believe every day is an opportunity to serve — and Mandela Day is a beautiful reminder of the power of collective action.
