Ashraful Aid Receives Central Gauteng Lions’ 2021 Award – ‘The Order of The Lion’

Each year the Central Gauteng Lions (CGL) recognise role players who are making a difference in society. This year we looked at the many men, women and organisations who worked tirelessly and long hours to contain the spread of the virus, as well as those who reached out to communities in dire need, through various poverty alleviation programmes.

At the 2020/21 CGL awards, we recognised Ashraful Aid, an International Humanitarian Organisation as the recipient of our prestigious Central Gauteng Lions Presidential Awards called ‘The Order of the Lion’. This award is in recognition of the exceptional services rendered to the development of cricket and contribution beyond cricket. ‘The Order of the Lion’ is a symbol of Strength, Courage, Royalty and Stateliness.

“Our sincere appreciation and gratitude goes to all the Volunteers, Staff, Players, SAPS, JMPD, SANDF, Community Leaders, Councillors, and the community at large who welcomed us in their communities. CGL through the support of various organisations including Ashraful Aid Humanitarian managed to distribute over five thousand food parcels across various communities. We are proud of have Ashraful Aid partner with us in various activities to address poverty concerns facing many individuals and families” said Wanele Mngomezulu CGL Marketing and Media manager.

Ashraful Aid Executive Director, Moulana Suhail Wadee who received the prestigious award on Friday, July 1st shared; “We are extremely honoured and thankful to receive the Central Gauteng Lions Presidential Award ‘The Order of the Lion’. As we continue to respond to calls of despair from communities, we are thankful to have such a strong team like the CGL assisting us in our efforts to reach communities and hand out much needed essentials. We look forward to partnering with CGL in the coming years to help many, many more people in need.”
