From Displacement to Dignity: Ashraful Aid at the Africa Forum in Kenya Ashraful Aid is honoured to be part of the Africa Forum on Displacement, currently underway in Nairobi, Kenya — a powerful gathering where stories, struggles, and solutions come together. Representing us at this important event is Ahmad Namutamba, a dedicated humanitarian who carries with him the voices, vision, and values of Ashraful Aid.
This forum goes beyond policies and presentations — it’s about people.
Across Africa, over 123 million people have been displaced. Families have been separated by war. Children have been forced to leave their schools. Elders have been uprooted from the homes they’ve known all their lives.
These are not just statistics — they are lives interrupted.
Around 80% of these displaced individuals are Muslim, and many of them face the added challenge of finding support that respects their faith and identity.
Facing the Crisis Up Close
As part of the forum, Ahmad visited Kikuma Refugee Camp, where thousands of displaced people are doing their best to rebuild their lives. There, he met mothers doing everything they can to care for their children, young people holding onto dreams of education, and elders holding tightly to hope in the face of overwhelming challenges.
These are the people we stand with.
They are resilient, resourceful, and courageous. They don’t need sympathy—they need real support, shared humanity, and consistent action. Their dignity deserves to be protected and uplifted.
Partnering with UNHCR
In a major step forward, Ashraful Aid signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with UNHCR, the United Nations agency that leads global efforts to support and protect refugees.
This partnership is a significant milestone. It will enable us to work more closely with international systems, reach more people in crisis, and expand our impact across Africa.
We are committed to responding faster, reaching further, and building stronger programs that restore hope and opportunity.
Why We Do This
Ashraful Aid is guided by a clear and heartfelt purpose:
Every human being deserves to live with dignity.
Whether we are delivering food parcels in conflict zones, supporting education in under-resourced communities, or standing with refugees in Kenya, our goal is always the same — to serve with compassion and purpose.
This forum has reminded us that displacement affects millions of lives and that the responsibility to respond lies with all of us. It has shown the strength of unity and the power of shared action.
Moving Forward With Purpose
We leave Kenya with more than memories — we return with deeper knowledge, new partnerships, and a renewed sense of mission.
We believe in a future where families can return to safe homes, where children can go back to school, and where every displaced person has access to the care, protection, and opportunity they deserve.
Thank you to our supporters and donors who make this work possible. Your commitment enables us to continue showing up where it matters most, with compassion and integrity.
Together, we can turn displacement into dignity.
