2 Million Rand in Aid for Gaza, Powered by Your Support

Ashraful Aid despatches two more trucks with Aid to assist the people of Gaza

Alhamdulillah, the operations teams at Ashraful Aid have managed to despatch two more trucks valued close to 2 million rands worth of emergency aid for the people stuck in Gaza.

This aid is delivered in the form of food hampers which can assist a family of 4 for up to 2 weeks and a family of 2 for a month.

Amidst the quickly escalating humanitarian crisis in the region faced largely by the cuts in funding for the UNRWA which caters to over 6 million refugees in the region, smaller aid organisations like Ashraful Aid are quickly becoming a lifeblood for the thousands of refugees who are lucky enough to access food hampers, basic amenities and personal effects.

In December, it was projected that the entire population of 2.2 million people in Gaza would face high levels of acute food insecurity by February 2024 – the highest share of people facing this level of food insecurity ever recorded worldwide.

It is through our fund raising initiatives and generous ongoing Zakat, Sadaqah and Lillah donations from donors in South Africa, Canada, New Zealand and the UK, that our on the ground teams are able to source, transport and distribute food to the thousands of Palestinians currently displaced in refugee camps across the area.

This is the second despatch that is being sent from Egypt, with the first truck with food relief arriving in Gaza at the end January this year.

GAZA UPDATE AS OF MARCH 2024
